The powerful word, a descriptor that reveals our intention, desire, and purpose, has become my tool for self-realization and expression.
I wrote this statement earlier this year and found it again while searching through my files for Twenty-Minute Stories to include in the book. I’ve always been drawn to words, the feelings they evoke, and the power they hold. Our writing group has helped me blossom as a writer. The strength and identity I’ve developed through the group has propelled me in publishing my first novel, Souls Touching, based upon a story birthed in a writing session.
Words have long been my passion, and feeling the freedom to explore, exploit, or manipulate them is exhilarating. It’s as if the world has opened to me and I am a kid in a candy store, or a wizard in a castle with imps and goblins. The art of making up or realizing stories using prompt words on the spur of the moment is divine deliverance.
I am grateful to Linda Gabriel, her guidance and direction in many areas of writing and life, and the talented members of our group to have enabled this avenue of exploration and expression.
